STRS Ohio is seeking a New Retirement Account Representative to join the Member Benefits/Member Benefits Processing team.

Compensation:

$22.69 - $25.52/ hr.

Work Schedule:

8:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday (Onsite)

General Summary:

Under the direction of the assistant director, Member Benefits Processing and the manager, Member Benefits Processing, accurately document and calculate a variety of benefit payment applications, including service retirement, disability, required minimum distributions and account recalculations. Ensure timely and accurate benefit administration by reviewing member records, coordinating with internal departments and external retirement systems and delivering high‑quality service to State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio) members.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze member records and service retirement applications to ensure completeness, accuracy and eligibility. Establish partial payment schedules and catch-up payments as needed.

  • Ensure accurate set up of tax withholding deductions (federal, state, school district), direct deposit information and split payment deductions for overpayment recovery. 

  • Monitor pending service retirement, disability and other systems’ pays applications and conduct appropriate and timely follow-up to obtain outstanding information. Work with other internal departments to resolve outstanding issues to finalize benefit payments.

  • Analyze deposit and service reports and verify service credit and final average salary to ensure accurate benefit payments.

Summary of Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Ability to evaluate data provided by members and contained within member records to handle all aspects of benefit payment applications, including but not limited to determining eligibility, calculating benefits and assessing the cost of services available for purchase.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities including regular workload and additional assigned tasks.

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with internal and external contacts required.

  • Excellent organizational skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail required.
