Your Role
As a Gensler Designer in Oakland’s Workplace Studio, you will collaborate with our Design Directors to develop design solutions and coordinate the design through the construction documentation and construction administration phases of interior projects. You will be successful because you know how to translate sketches and documents into realized 2D/3D models and images, and research artistic and/or technical issues when they arise. What You Will Do
Support project teams through all phases of design, including programming, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, and construction documentation
Assist with the development of graphic presentations, 3D renderings, drawings, and visual materials
Contribute to space planning, finish selections, specifications, and design documentation
Help prepare and present FF&E selections, including furniture, fabrics, lighting, and finishes
Use hand sketching and digital tools to communicate design ideas and concepts
Collaborate with designers, architects, and project team members in a team‑oriented studio environment
Coordinate with consultants, vendors, product representatives, and fabricators as directed
Provide design support during project execution to help ensure design intent
Participate in studio activities, learning programs, and office initiatives
Support the use of new and emerging technologies, including AI tools, to enhance design workflows
Gain exposure to a variety of project types, including Workplace, Technology, Financial and Professional Services, and Healthcare.
Your Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in interior design or architecture
2-5 years of related project experience or internship experience at a commercial interior design or architecture firm
Proficiency in Revit is required
Proficiency in modeling using 2D/3D software, such as Revit, Enscape, Lumion, hand sketching, and new AI techniques
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel)
Enrolled in IDP Program (NCARB or NCIDQ) and in process for state licensure
Ability to work in person in the office 5 days a week
Ability to keep up in a fast-paced environment, work collaboratively, and have the ability to take direction from senior designers/architects.
Clear verbal communication abilities and are detail-oriented.
Possess a visual communication style and can think and visualize in three-dimensions

**The base salary will be estimated between $75,000-95,000, plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
This opportunity is designed for on-site collaboration, offering the chance to engage closely with our team and projects in person. Remote or hybrid work is not available for this role at this time.
