Role Overview

The Vice President, BDC Accounting will be responsible for overseeing the accounting, financial reporting, and control environment for one or more Business Development Companies (BDCs) within the firm’s credit platform. This role plays a critical leadership position within the Finance organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and scalable processes in support of a growing BDC business.

The role requires deep knowledge of investment company accounting under U.S. GAAP, regulatory and shareholder reporting requirements, and experience managing teams and service providers in a complex asset management environment.

Key Responsibilities:

BDC Financial Reporting & Accounting Oversight

  • Oversee the monthly and quarterly close processes for assigned BDCs, including NAV calculations, income recognition, expense accruals, and investment valuations.
  • Review financial statements, supporting schedules, and analytics prepared internally or by third‑party administrators.
  • Support timely and accurate preparation of quarterly and annual BDC reporting, including Forms 10‑Q, 10‑K, and N‑CSR, as applicable.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of ASC 946, fair value accounting, and BDC‑specific accounting considerations.

Regulatory, Audit & Compliance Support

  • Serve as a primary accounting lead for external auditors, addressing audit inquiries and managing deliverables through completion.
  • Support regulatory examinations and requests related to BDC accounting and financial reporting.
  • Partner with Legal and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to SEC rules, BDC regulations, and internal governance standards.
  • Oversee internal controls related to BDC accounting, including SOX‑type controls, documentation, and remediation efforts as needed.

Service Provider & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage relationships with external fund administrators, custodians,  and auditors to ensure service quality and accountability.
  • Act as a key accounting counterpart to internal Investment, Portfolio Management, Treasury, Risk, Valuations, Operations, and Investor Relations teams.
  • Support Investor Relations by providing accounting insights, financial data, and technical explanations as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA required.
  • 8–12 years of relevant experience in fund accounting, BDC accounting, public accounting, or alternative asset management.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience with  registered investment company financial reporting, including SEC filings and audit support.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP as it relates to investment companies and fair value measurements.
  • Proven ability to operate in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with fund accounting, general ledger, or reporting systems preferred.

It is expected that the base annual salary range for this New York City-based non-exempt position will be $150,000 - $185,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
