Tech Lead, Systems EngineeringWhat does a successful DevOps Engineer do at Fiserv?
As a DevOps Engineer, you will be a key player in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our globally distributed, high-availability payment gateway platform. This mission-critical system operates 24/7 across multiple regions, processing millions of transactions daily. You will work closely with operations, and security teams to automate infrastructure, optimize CI/CD pipelines, and implement robust monitoring and incident response strategies.
- Work closely with our DevOps Engineers and our agile development teams to continuously improve and automate our software development process and runtime environments
- Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for rapid and reliable deployments
- Enhance solutions reliably through Configuration as Code and GitOps as part of an international team.
- Train, mentor, and guide junior DevOps engineers to build skills.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Lead by example and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
- Communicate effectively across teams and time zones
What will you do
- BE/BTech, ME/MTech in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience in DevOps practices and methodologies.
- 5+ years in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering roles, ideally supporting high-availability, distributed systems.
- Deep knowledge of AWS cloud platforms with hands-on experience in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).
- Proven experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI
- Strong skills in Kubernetes and Helm
- Advanced Programming Skills for Automation
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- You should be able to work independently and multitask effectively, drive yourself and other towards task completion
- Apply GenAI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) to improve productivity, code quality, documentation, and analysis.
- Leverage ML, NLP, or AI automation to optimize workflows, testing, data analysis, or product development.
What you need to have
- Experience in ML/AI or software engineering with hands-on deep learning projects delivered to production.
- Strong Python skills and practical experience with PyTorch and/or TensorFlow.
- Proven experience with Docker and Kubernetes for deploying and operating ML services.
- Experience with MLflow or comparable experiment tracking and model registry solutions.
- Experience deploying ML workloads on at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure or GCP).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tooling and pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD, etc.).
- Strong software engineering fundamentals: testing, version control, modular design and documentation.
- Clear communication skills and experience working cross-functionally in regulated environments.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to integrate AI models, automation pipelines, or intelligent assistants into products.
What would be great to have
- You have worked before in an agile development environment, and you are familiar with the PI Planning process and to are able to understand how to align the development to deliver effective towards a PI and Release
- You have experience in working with a multi-locational matrix organization where technology teams and delivery is done across multiple teams and locations
- Develop scalable applications using Java / .NET / Python / React / Cloud, enhanced with AI‑assisted development.
- Prior work in payments, banking or regulated fintech with emphasis on auditability, privacy and security.
- Ensure ethical AI usage, data governance compliance, and secure handling of model outputs.
- Stay updated with emerging AI technologies and recommend adoption strategies.
- Experience with AI APIs (OpenAI, Azure AI, AWS Bedrock) is a plus.
- Govern responsible AI usage, performance tuning, security, and observability for AI workloads.
