Job Summary:

Piper Fire Protection's Clearwater, FL branch is seeking a highly skilled Fire Sprinkler Fitter / Fire Pump Specialist with proven expertise in fire pump troubleshooting, repair, replacement, and controller diagnostics. This role is critical to maintaining the reliability and compliance of life safety systems across commercial and industrial facilities. Candidates must be able to walk onto a site with a down fire pump, diagnose the issue (mechanical or electrical), and confidently lead the repair or replacement.

The ideal candidate is not only proficient in sprinkler systems but also demonstrates deep, hands-on experience with fire pump systems, electrical controllers, and system diagnostics under real-world conditions. This is a hands-on, expert-level role focused heavily on fire pump systems, not just sprinkler installation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair fire pump systems including diesel and electric-driven units
  • Perform advanced controller diagnostics, including fault analysis, wiring verification, and component replacement
  • Conduct fire pump inspections, testing, and maintenance in accordance with NFPA standards (e.g., NFPA 20 & 25)
  • Lead and execute fire pump replacements and retrofits, including rigging, alignment, and commissioning
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues related to controllers, transfer switches, sensors, and alarms
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and controller wiring diagrams
  • Verify system performance through flow testing and operational validation
  • Provide clear documentation of deficiencies, repairs, and recommendations
  • Mentor junior technicians in fire pump systems and diagnostics

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years as a Fire Sprinkler Fitter or Fire Protection Technician, with proven fire pump experience
