About the role

The Finance Reporting Intermediate Analyst is an intermediate level position within the Controllers organization. The role is responsible for the generation, analysis and submission of financial reports, and will also support the design and maintenance of data structure that underpins financial reporting. The role will collaborate closely with other functions in Finance, Technology, and Businesses including Operations, and contribute to improving data quality and reporting efficiency.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Generate, review and submit reports to various constituencies, adhering to requirements such as US GAAP, local GAAP and local statutory and regulatory guidelines.
  • Analyze financial transactions, reports and statements, providing outcomes and insight to senior management.
  • Assist in closing the books and Sub Ledgers, including processing necessary adjustment entries and consolidating financials at the end of each accounting period.
  • Support the design and maintenance of data code structures across multiple products for General Ledger integration, ensuring consistency, reliability, and usability across the organization. Identify data issues and support resolution through analysis and collaboration.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.


Qualifications:

  • 2-5+ years of experience, preferably within the financial services industry, with a focus on financial reporting and disclosure.
  • Proficiency in basic accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated experience or strong interest in data analysis and financial processes.
  • Strong Excel skills (e.g., functions, pivot tables).
  • Solid problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and learning-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to balance independent problem-solving with effective escalation for support when needed.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to synthesize complex concepts.
  • Fluent in both Japanese and English.


Education:

  • Bachelor's/University degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
