Job Description:

The role is for an Investment Analyst (VP level or below) within Deutsche Bank’s Strategic Investment Group (“SIG”), a market‑leading strategic investment and distressed credit franchise with a long and successful track record in the Japanese market.
SIG invests in and trades a wide range of products, including distressed and restructured credits, real estate‑related credit, non‑performing loan portfolios, special situation financing, and high‑yield instruments such as LBO mezzanine debt.

With expanding opportunities in the Japanese market, Deutsche Bank’s SIG is seeking a credit investment analyst with experience in credit investment and/or financing in Japan. The role involves conducting credit risk underwriting, monitoring and managing invested credits, and working closely with a highly experienced team to further grow Deutsche Bank’s franchise in Japan.

Role Responsibilities and Tasks :

SIG’s Investment Analyst responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Analyze and gain a full understanding of the credit profile of investment assets, including distressed, stressed and restructured loans, as well as special situation financings; lead comprehensive due diligence covering regulatory, legal, and reputational risks as well.
  • Build and run sophisticated cash‑flow models, perform pricing and valuation analyses, and conduct real estate collateral valuations.
  • Assume primary ownership of assigned credits, acting as the key interface across sourcing, execution, and trading functions.
  • Identify attractive credit investment opportunities through rigorous research and market analysis.
  • Work closely with external loan servicers to manage non‑performing loan portfolio assets throughout their lifecycle and drive successful resolutions and workouts.
  • Present credit analyses to internal stakeholders, and prepare and obtain required internal approvals for new investments and periodic portfolio reviews.

Experience/ Qualifications:

·  Minimum of 7 years of experience in the banking industry, financial advisory firms, and/or credit investment companies or funds.

·  Strong knowledge of credit risk underwriting and financial analysis, with demonstrated hands‑on experience.

·  Native‑level Japanese and fluent English proficiency.

·  Bachelor’s degree, preferably in finance, accounting, engineering, or a related discipline.

·  Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.

·  Strong work ethic, with the ability to work seamlessly with team members across various roles, including Traders, Investment Analysts, Deal Sourcing, Desk Legal, and Operations.
