This is an entry level position where the incumbent will learn the basic knowledge, i.e. theoretical and practical, in the preparation of biological material for histological analysis/diagnosis. The process involves the preparation of patient tissue or research tissue according to department procedures. Support continuous improvement of laboratory services within the organization to ensure high quality and timely pathology information for a quality diagnosis.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Education and training equivalent to 60 semester hours from an accredited institution that, at a minimum, include either a) 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or b) 24 semester hours of science courses that include i) 6 semester hours of chemistry ii) 6 semester hours of biology iii) 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent experience in laboratory work, preferably histology laboratory preferred.
  • Bachelor of science or successful completion of a formally recognized histology technique training program preferred.
