Job Description

Weekly outpatient therapy isn't always enough, and a trip to the ER isn't the only answer. Patients and their families rely on Compass Health Center when in crisis – every day, we help people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely.

About This Role 

Compass Health Center is seeking an Associate Director for our OCD & Trauma Programs at our Northbrook facility. The ideal candidate possesses expertise in group therapy as well as relevant experience working with individuals in recovery from trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, and OCD. This position will work in conjunction with the program Director, as well as Compass' Center of Excellence Team, to ensure appropriate support of these programs. 

Our location in Northbrook is our first and largest facility, and consists not only of our widest variety of programs, but also serves as a pilot site for many of our new treatment offerings 

What You'll Do: 

  • Collaborate with Program Director and Center of Excellence Team to support programming  
  • Collaborate with Program Director to support cohesion and team building between the OCD & Complex Anxiety Program and Trauma Program 
  • Provide direct managerial oversight to up to ten staff members with focus being management of group therapists. 
  • Facilitate group therapy multiple times a week.   
  • Provide individual therapy/case management and/or family therapy to program patients, as needed 
  • Coordinate care with patients’ outside providers to ensure continuity of care, as needed 
  • Communicate with patients’ family members or support systems, as needed 
  • Assess patients’ progress and need for higher level of care or discharge 
  • Participate in community outreach 
  • Conduct intake evaluations of new patients and re-intake evaluations, as needed 
  • Participate in interview and hiring process 
  • Assist Program Director with monthly team meetings 
  • Working with Senior Director and Program Director in implementation of Compass wide initiatives, including Access to Care, Optimal Outcomes, Continuity & Excellence, and Patient & Family Engagement 
  • Engage in frequent communication and collaboration with program team members and multidisciplinary treatment teams via rounds, EMR notes, emails, and face-to-face communication 
  • Chart progress of patients in EMR 
  • Participate in professional development activities 
  • Other duties, as assigned 

Who You Are: 

  • Master’s level clinician with 5+ years of post-master’s clinical experience conducting intakes, assessments, individual, family, and group therapy 
  • Hold one of the following licenses: Ph.D., Psy.D., LCSW, or LCPC 
  • Internal applicants must have experience successfully implementing organizational initiatives including Optimal Outcomes and Access to Care. 
  • Internal applicants must be Senior-level or above. 
  • Possess knowledge and experience utilizing ERP, ACT, DBT, and CBT- among other effective and efficacious treatments – to facilitate group therapy 
  • Have experience with patients in crisis 
  • Possess program development and implementation experience 
  • Possess experience supervising mental health workers who are licensed and/or seeking licensure) 
  • Possess excellent time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple demands simultaneously in a fast paced and changing environment
