The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) seeks applicants for a postdoctoral research associate to begin immediately. The research associate is expected to work under Prof. Rong R. Wang’s supervision and will focus on developing novel methods and materials for advanced biological and chemical sensors, cell therapeutics and connective tissue regeneration.JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities:
Conduct independent and collaborative research and prepare peer-reviewed journal articles, conference papers, and technical reports to disseminate research findings.
Collaborate with faculty, graduate students, and external research partners in an interdisciplinary research environment.
Provide mentoring and technical guidance to graduate and undergraduate researchers, as appropriate.
Maintain the lab equipment, document research methods, workflows and data following best practices for reproducibility and research integrity.
Requirements:
PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry or a closely related field, completed by the start date of the appointment.
Demonstrated research experience in detection assay development, optical and electrochemical sensors, micro-nano fabrication, natural and synthetic polymers as scaffolds for tissue engineering and sensor materials.
Familiar with various characterization techniques, including but not limited to, Raman microscopy, atomic force microscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, DLS, among others.
Experience in mammalian cell culture, gene and protein level analysis, and/or animal studies is a plus.
Ability to communicate research results effectively, demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications, technical reports, conference presentations, or written research statements.

Compensation:
Annual salary: $52,000 to $56,000, based on experience, expertise. This an on-site position and is renewable based on funding availability.
