This role is located in Palmdale, CA
Job Duties and Tasks
Operates vehicles including trucks, tugs and forklifts used for moving hazardous waste.
Manually moves bins, drums and pallets of materials.
Travels to multiple sites within the Antelope Valley to complete work.
Prepares shipping manifests and maintains documentation in accordance with applicable regulations.
Facilitates and monitors contractors brought on site for hazardous waste related functions and projects.
Performs a variety of tasks within the company facilities related to managing and disposing hazardous waste in accordance with federal, state and local regulations such as EPA and DOT.
Collects drums and bins of liquids and solids deemed to be hazardous waste and prepares shipments to disposal sites. Cleans up chemical spills.
Prepares for and supports regulatory inspections.
Basic Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
- Must have a good understanding of chemicals (acids, bases, oxidizers, flammables, reducers, water-reactives) in a variety of forms (liquids, solids, gases, sludges, slurries) and related incompatibilities to prevent undesirable chemical reactions.
- Must be able to perform work in occasional hazardous working conditions, both indoors and outside, and may require the use of specialized safety and personal protective equipment.
