Job Description

Senior Technical Product Owner – Interoperability

Interoperable data is shaping the future of healthcare. In this senior individual contributor role, you will turn regulatory requirements into scalable product capabilities that deliver clinical and operational value. You will own complex interoperability products end to end, bridging product strategy, engineering execution, and healthcare standards. We are looking for an ambitious, thoughtful expert who thrives in complexity, communicates with clarity, and approaches challenges with curiosity and compassion.

Responsibilities

• Own the full product lifecycle for assigned interoperability capabilities, from vision and roadmap through delivery, adoption, and measurable outcomes.

• Translate regulatory and platform strategy into clear epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria that engineering teams can execute with confidence.

• Lead product discovery by analyzing workflows, identifying gaps, and prioritizing the highest-value problems to solve.

• Define and manage product success metrics, including adoption, quality, throughput, and outcome measures.

• Serve as product owner and subject matter expert for FHIR-based capabilities, including SMART on FHIR, Bulk FHIR, and payer-to-payer exchange.

• Guide implementation of interoperability standards and Da Vinci Implementation Guides in partnership with engineering and clinical teams.

• Translate CMS and ONC regulatory mandates into actionable product requirements and defensible compliance outcomes.

• Partner with EHR, provider, compliance, and business stakeholders to ensure solutions work in real-world clinical environments.

• Communicate product decisions and trade-offs clearly to senior leaders, technical teams, and cross-functional partners.

• Strengthen the product organization by sharing knowledge, mentoring peers, and improving product practices and tooling.

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in technical product ownership, product management, or health IT roles.

• Hands-on knowledge of FHIR R4, RESTful APIs, SMART on FHIR authorization, and Bulk FHIR data exchange.

• Practical experience translating CMS interoperability and prior authorization regulations into product requirements.

• Experience working with EHR or EMR platforms and understanding real-world integration and workflow constraints.

• Strong Agile product ownership skills, including backlog management, user story writing, and release planning.

• Ability to write clear, precise technical requirements that enable efficient engineering delivery.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills across technical and executive audiences.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a technical, healthcare, or related field.

• Experience with Da Vinci Implementation Guides such as PAS, DTR, CRD, or PDex.

• Background in payer, value-based care, quality measurement, or provider data domains.

• Familiarity with TEFCA, QHIN exchange, and national interoperability networks.

• Exposure to AI-enabled or analytics-driven healthcare products.

• Experience using tools for API testing and FHIR conformance validation.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
